Garlic Infused Olive Oil
Making your own flavored oil is quite easy and can be done with many different types of oil like olive, vegetable and canola oils. You can add all kinds of flavors and it will generally last 1-2 weeks.
To make garlic infused oil
Take 1 cup olive oil and place in a small sauce pan on low heat. Add 8 gloves of garlic cut in half and 1 tsp whole or crushed peppercorns. Cook on low heat for 20 minutes occasionally swishing the pan to make sure the garlic does not stick to pan. If the oil starts to bubble, lower the heat, you do not want the garlic to burn. Remove from heat and let oil cool in pan until room temperature. Strain out garlic and peppercorns. If you would like more or less oil than this, simply cut the measurements in half or add as much as you like.
You can use this flavored oil and any others you desire to make just as you would normally use oil for. Such as cooking eggs, chicken or fish or even making salad dressings.
