Simple Winter Breakfast

If you are like me and like something hearty and homey in the cold season's then you might like oatmeal. My Husband Brandon and I LOVE oatmeal. The great thing about it is it is a simple yet hearty breakfast. The even better thing about it is there are endless possibilities.

You could add milk, butter and brown sugar.
Your favorite kind of nuts for a little crunch (my faves are toasted hazelnuts, almonds and pecans).
1-2 tabelspoons peanut butter or even better, nuttella.

The options are endless.

The recipe I created today was inspired by Jamba Juice. They have oatmeal with various fruit toppings. Our favorite is the blackberry one. Well, I thought, "how easy and cheap would it be to make our own." The answer: much more affordable and very easy. Here is what I used...
I made a pot equivelant to 4 servings of quick oats on the stove top.
I took 1/2 a bag of frozen blackberries (about 8 ounces) I added them to a microwave safe bowl with 2 tablespoons brown sugar (I used Splenda Brown Sugar Blend) and 2 tablespoons water. I covered the bowl and microwaved for 5 minutes stirring and mashing the berries half way through the cooking time. I then spooned up 4 servings of oatmeal into bowls and spooned the berry mixture on top.
It took me about 10-15 minutes and we had a yummy, hearty breakfast.
The cost: 16 ounce bag of berries $2.00, Large canister of quick oats $3.00, brown sugar blend $3.00. Total cost $8.00 for 8 srevings with berries and enough leftover brown sugar and quick oats for atleast 10 more servings. Much better than the $3-4 bucks it costs for one serving at Jamba Juice. Enjoy!!!

3. Ask people if they will become friends of your blog and put a link to it on their page, etc...
